Poulots
your comments review this restaurant
I was in Poulots last week with my wife and I have to say we had a fantastic evening. From the moment we walked in the door to when we finally left everything was spot on perfect. The previous reviewer may have been there on an 'off' night but we will certainly be back. I just can't believe that we didn't know about it, we live local and just discovered it. Michelin star for Poulots? - with time, definitely, - and at least one at that.

I had heard that this restaurant is making efforts towards getting a michelin star. Having been there very recently I can only assume I was mistaken because the very idea of this place getting a star is laughable.
The food was ok but I've eaten an awful lot better at less than half the price (e.g. Venu serves the same sort of fair for a lot less)
It says on the web site that the chefs ethos includes generous portions but he obviously had a change of heart. The portions weren't tiny but "gerenous" is just plain wrong. There was nothing wrong with the food as such but it lacked a little originality. The chef is obviously talented but its very much a case of "could do better". In any case what talents he is displaying are being negated by front of house.
The service was a complete joke. "Headless chickens" would be a kind way to describe them. The Maitre D' took our order and asked her how thing were early on in the meal but them just lost interest. The waiter at our table was surly and boardering on rude.
If this restaurant focuses just a bit on producing exceptional food and pays a little less attention to prettying up the plate then maybe, just maybe, they might be in the one star league in terms of food.
The really do have to go back to basic with the service though.
This ain't rocket science here so if they get their house in order I wouldn't be surprised to see them up there in the future.
I will say in there defense that they have a lovely location and have done a nice job on the dining room.
