Visited Thorntons on Sat. 13th. Dec 2008. arrived half an hour before our appointed time and had a pre dinner drink. Three of our group order a white wine by name and label and I ordered a glass of house red. The lady offered Amaroni (not sure of spelling and not a wine expert) so I nodded in agreement. Didn't know the price of this till we got the bill at the end of the night. Cost € 19.
Food presentation was excellent and food was very good. However it was cold and served on cold plates. Helping were very small. You wouldn't want to be hungry. We made our feelings known to Kevin Thornton when he introduced himself to us later. He informed us that they serve their food at 60 degrees and if it was cold we should have sent it back. With that he walked away. One other point, two of the waiters had a strong BO problem which was very offputting.
We all agreed that it was very bad value for money and none of us would return

Set in a beautiful hotel, the food is exquisite - foie gras terrine was like velvet with amazing layers and flavours, venison was well cooked, and chocolate fondant was served in an espresso cup - delicious.
Expensive, but then it does have a Michelin star so you sort of expect that. The lunch menu can work out a lot cheaper. Service was flawless and I would definitely go back.
